"Psycho"
A young woman steals $40,000 from her employer's client and flees town. She gets caught driving in a bad storm and stops at a motel. She encounters the young motel keeper that is dominated by his mother. Although the movie is not violent and bloody as are the movies these days, it does provide pure paranoia, anxiety, and suspense for its audience. And where would a horror movie be without the music? I believe the music is the secret ingredient to making a horror movie scary. The music in Psycho correlates beautifully with the horror scenes to really scare its audience. Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho will forever be a classic horror film.
"Devil"
Five strangers share an elevator that gets stuck between floors. Strange things begin to happen soon after. The lights go out and when they come back on one of the five passengers has a large cut on her back. She says that it felt like something bit her. The lights continue to go out sporadically throughout the movie, and every time they do someone dies or is injured. You can never actually see what happens when the elevator loses power because it is completely dark. The idea of this movie is creative, however the movie is boring and never scary.

"Bug"
Ashley Judd stars as a waitress named Agnes that lives in constant fear of her abusive ex-husband. She meets Peter, a drifter, and starts to feel hopeful again. And then the bugs come. According to Peter there is a bug crawling under his skin. His paranoia with these bugs only gets worse as the movie progresses. In one scene he actually pulls out one of his teeth with a pair of pliers because he is sure there is an egg sack on his tooth. Peter and Agnes both start to see bugs crawling under their skin. They obsessively try to remove the bugs by cutting themselves. I didn't have the patience to finish this movie, let alone the stomach.

"The Midnight Meat Train"
Bradley Cooper plays a New York photographer that starts following a serial killer. Vinnie Jones plays the serial killer that butchers late night subway commuters. This movie is suspenseful for the first hour, but suddenly it takes a plunging dive into a tumultuous fantasy land. Despite a great cast and a creative story line, the movie is ruined by the ridiculous last reel.

"Frontier"
Yasmine and her ex-boyfriend, along with his two friends, are trying to escape the race riots going on in Paris. They hide out from the police in what seems to be a peaceful Inn. They will soon find out that the Inn keeper is part of an evil cult family. This is the ultimate horror movie consisting of cannibalism, gore, and non-stop brutal violence. Frontier is unique and intense and unpredictable. It will keep your heart pounding up until the very end.
